Biometric Face Recognition
Efaas verification and efaas mobile login uses biometric face checks which includes a liveness check and a face match. This is the biometric analysis of a person's facial movements that is compared with photographs on submitted ID documents. This is to ensure that a person is alive and to make sure of their presence at the time of the identity verification.

During facial recognition, the captured image is compared with photographs from authoritative sources to verify the authenticity of the request. This process is conducted entirely within NCIT servers using an application provided by the service provider, Regula. No photos or personal data collected during the process are shared with the face verification service provider, ensuring your data remains secure.

The retention period is currently 5 years. After this period, it is securely deleted.
Facial data captured during verification and authentication is not and will not be shared with other entities or organizations.
We will be providing access to the users to the pictures taken during face recognition in the near future. We are working on introducing privacy and data protection legislation in the Maldives which will provide principles of privacy, rights of the individuals and obligations of the controllers.

In the case of a breach, affected users will be informed and following measures will be taken:

  1. conduct an audit to determine the cause
  2. produce a written report that includes detailed plans to remedy any deficiencies identified by the audit
  3. promptly remedy any deficiencies identified by the audit
  4. take reasonable and prompt steps to mitigate the effects and to minimise any damage resulting from the Personal Data Breach or unlawful Personal Data processing

Regular testing, assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of security measures are undertaken to prevent security incidents.
